After being in the car all day the next thing our visitors wanted to do was go for a walk. Our neighborhood has over 12 miles of paved walking paths. They're great, you never even have to cross streets, there are tunnels and bridges along the way. We took the paths through some woods to a lake at the entrance of the neighborhood and went for a loop around it.
New Year's Eve we spent watching a movie, playing Apples to Apples and Yahtzee (Mom won, somehow she always manages to get more than one Yahtzee), and of course snacking all night long! I'm so glad my new kitchen has an island too, it's always a great place to gather and feast:
New Year's Day we all slept in and then had a hashbrown bacon egg cheese casserole for brunch. Liz came that afternoon and the girls had an intense game of Scrabble (I won, by one point).
We wanted to go out to a unique, local restaurant for dinner on Saturday, but I called six different places earlier in the week for reservations and they were all closed for New Year's Day! So, we ended up at Bonefish Grill, and it was so delicious that no one cared it was a place we'd all been before. After a rather hectic holiday season, it was the perfect weekend to spend time with my fun family.
They left this morning and the towels and sheets are already in the washer ready to get turned around to go right back in the guest rooms as we gear up for more visitors later this week! Looks like 2011 is going to be a great year!

Thank you Jennifer & Matt for a most memorable weekend. We had so much fun ringing in the New Year with you and we are looking forward to our next visit.
