Ta-da!

We're finished! Here is our brand new master bathroom: It's quite an improvement from where we started three weeks ago:

We filled two giant lawn and leaf bags with all those bits of wallpaper! In fact, we uncovered up to 3 different layers in some spots! Our house is only thirty-six years old. That means on average once a decade the previous owners were peeling and re-wallpapering this room. This makes me question their sanity.

Goodbye wallpaper, floral border, and ugly brass fixtures! It's amazing what some hard work, a gallon of paint, and new fixtures can do to transform a room. As far as updates go, this is one of the least expensive projects we've done since the big stuff (shower, cabinets, countertop, etc.) was in good condition, it just needed a less busy backdrop to make it shine.

There is not a good angle to take a complete picture of the whole room, so here's a variety of views of the makeover:

I think small touches, like the new outlet and light switch plates, have a big impact on making a room look updated and complete. As a bonus, Matt fixed our outlet so it doesn't push into the wall weird anymore whenever you plug something in. He repaired our toilet during this project too (it needed a new flapper). I'm glad he's handy!

We found a simple light fixture that matched the brushed satin finish of the new towel bars:

I couldn't resist a trip to Target for some new accessories to dress up the room a bit:
The new rug is from Bed Bath & Beyond and helps tie in the brown tile floor from the other room.

I'm thrilled with how it turned out and it's motivating me to tackle the other projects on our list because it's so fun to see the outcome. I think we're going to spend the rest of this weekend relaxing though, we've earned it!
