Baby's First Beach Trip

After taking Kate to both the mountains and the swamp in March, we decided to end the month by taking her to the beach for the first time.
Snoozing on the pier

After some delicious Taco Boy for lunch and a stroll on the Folly Beach pier we spent the afternoon wandering around one of our favorite cities, Charleston.  The best springtime detail to me was all the window boxes overflowing with flowers.

We've been lots of times, but there are so many gorgeous streets to explore that there's no way we could ever see it all.

Kate seemed to enjoy being out and about on the lovely sunny spring day, usually when we peeked in the stroller we saw a smiley face (of course there were a few meltdowns too).

The trip included many firsts for our baby girl, including first time climbing a tree and first time on a swing.

That's a beautiful setting for your first time on a swing

We finished up our day with dinner at the Hominy Grill, their motto is "Grits are good for you," although I'm not sure that applies to the deep fried cheese grits Matt ordered.  Everything definitely tasted very good.

One big advantage to living in Columbia, is that we can spend a day on the coast and be back at home in time for bedtime stories.  It was a perfect outing for our little family of three, and one that we will repeat many times.

  1. What a great day trip! After seeing your pictures on Facebook, I was really looking forward to this post. Can't wait to hear about Kate's first Easter. I might give you a call tomorrow :-)

  2. That girl gets AROUND! She is adorable. Love all the pics! I'm very jealous of your ability to skip on over to the beach whenever you want!
