We were not big fans (haha) of our fan:
What fan? The white one that blends in to the ceiling, you're probably having a hard time even spotting it in these before pictures.
It had three strikes against it: 1.) it was boring, 2.) it made an annoying humming sound when it was running, and 3.) it did not have an overhead light. On Saturday we found its replacement and after some teamwork our living room looked like this:
We love how the wooden blades match the mantle on the fireplace. We love that we can turn it on and still hear each other talk. We love having a brighter lighting option for our living room.
On a sidenote, you know you're getting old when you get this excited about spending your hard earned money on a ceiling fan. Oh well. Apart from that update, I also started on that pesky wallpaper this weekend too:
The top layer came off alright, what you can't tell from the picture is that the white part is not the bare wall, it's the wallpaper backing which is glued on tight. So we also added some of this to our Lowe's shopping cart:
Hopefully the Piranha will loosen up that wallpaper paste and make it a bit easier to get the rest off. Can't wait to post the "after" pictures... but that is still a few weeks and a lot of work away!
