Turkey Recap

We had an extra special Thanksgiving this year, in order to make travel a bit easier on the eight month pregnant woman, our families combined our feasts and my family met us halfway at Matt's parent's house in Tennessee.  We usually do a Mack family Thanksgiving the weekend before and spend the actual Thanksgiving at Gran's in Western Kentucky but this year's combo was a great idea since we got to see all of our immediate family at once!
Does it seem like Charlotte is eyeing the baby bump?  Why yes pup, I've put on some pounds, thanks for noticing.

Peggy out did herself providing all the classic Thanksgiving dishes- homemade dressing, sweet potatoes, broccoli casserole, and of course an amazing smoked turkey.  We filled our plates and bellies, thankful for family to share such a fancy meal with.

Afterwards it was a group effort to hand wash the nice china, all workers were rewarded with pumpkin pie and boiled custard.

Claudia and Stephen headed back Thursday night so they could spend Friday with his family.  My parents left Friday morning.  I love that our families get along so well, it will make all the future events with the baby (birthday parties, holidays, graduation, etc.) much more fun.  Friday afternoon Peggy let me in on the family secret recipe for holiday fantasy fudge.

Ok, so maybe it's not really a secret since the recipe is written on the jar of marshmallow creme... but I still diligently observed her technique and happily sampled the finished product.  We left this morning and the ride home was much smoother than the high traffic headache we endured Wednesday to get there.  Traveling this late in my pregnancy was not very comfortable, but the relaxing holiday weekend made it all worth it.  It's exciting to think that the next time we see any of our family it will be to introduce them to our daughter!  This year, more than ever, I feel extra thankful for the many blessings in my life.  I hope everyone had a delicious and memorable Thanksgiving as well!!
