If this weekend's "kickoff to summer" was any indication, then it's going to be a great summer. For starters, is there anything better than having a sweet, sleeping baby on you? It's hard to beat.
Fun fact: Holding a sleeping baby is becoming a Memorial Day tradition for me. We love our friends' kids.

Another perfect way to start summer is by consuming large quantities of all American food. Adam grilled up chicken wings, corn on the cob, and giant hot dogs. There was also a feast of pear (hit!) and green bean (not as much of a hit.) puree for the little one. Watching her faces and reactions to the baby food was hysterical. I have spent part of the holiday weekend trying to get things organized for our upcoming vacation so a break from the laundry and "to do" lists to go relax and celebrate the holiday was perfect. Before you think all we did was stuff our faces (that's partly true), we did participate in an intense, close match of Boys vs. Girls cornhole.
I am saddened to report that in the end, Team Girl Power lost the competition, although just barely. Is it wrong that we blamed Laing? We kind of did, because she seemed to cheer for whoever was winning. It's hard to stay mad at her though, because she's such a smiley, happy girl.

There was no rush to get home since today is a holiday! The first one since New Year's, it's a great feeling to sleep in and have a whole more day of the weekend. Matt's making patriotic blueberry pancakes for breakfast as I post this recap so it's safe to say today is going to be another good day. Hope everyone has a safe, and happy Memorial Day!
