Vacation Highlights

We're back after our week of vacation at Wild Dunes on Isle of Palms and it was wonderful.  Here's a quick recap with hopefully more pictures to come later (I was really bad about remembering to take pictures so I'll try to get a few from Laura to better document our trip).

Sweetest moment: new future best pals Ellie and Laing meet for the first time
Sidenote- it is not possible to get two babies to both look at the camera no matter how many faces the guys were making at them
Weather: a mix of everything- overcast days, windy, Wednesday it rained all day, and there were sunny gorgeous days too
View from our balcony- full moon & palmetto at sunset
What we did: Pool time, beach time, bike riding, pedicures, a puzzle, naps, game nights, walks on the beach, Fort Moultrie, playing with Ellie, downtown Charleston, and lots of delicious dining
Taco Boy tradition continues, we've been there together in 2008, 2010, 2011 and now 2012
Wildlife seen on the island: several alligators (including one with only 3 legs), a shark that a fisherman on the beach caught, turtles, pelicans, crabs in the pool, and fearless squirrels that jumped in front of you on the bike paths
The gang- vacationing with friends is more fun than going alone
Cuisine: the usual "must eat at" list got longer this trip thanks to our discovery of Low Country Bistro which has only been open for 3 weeks but served up the tastiest dish of the week... behold my grilled shrimp with tomato chutney served on fried green tomatoes over cheesy grits:
It. was. amazing.
Progress Award: goes to Ellie, who on day 1 was terrified of the ocean but by the end of the week was wobbling with her adorable newly learned walking skills straight out to sea
Ready for adventures in our coordinated teal swimsuits
It's always sad when vacation is over, especially since it felt like old times being around Pete and Laura all week like back in our college days.  Luckily this is a tradition we all love and I know we'll be doing it again someday.
