Four Wheelers: Wedding Recap

As promised, I'm back with details and fun facts about Claudia's wedding this past weekend. There are still a lot of things I don't have any pictures of (like the ceremony or wedding party) but here are some snapshots from the rehearsal and reception along with trivia about the day.

-My parents celebrated their 33rd anniversary on Friday and were honored at the rehearsal dinner with their own personal cake. Congrats!

- The slideshow included lots of adorable baby pics of both Claudia and Stephen and copies of the disc were available for family to take home.

- There was a baked potato bar at the rehearsal dinner- all the toppings you'd want, genius!

- The farthest traveled wedding guests were from Germany, but there were also guests representing from SC, NC, GA, TN, KY, and TX.

-The bride wore flip flops.

- Hanna, the wedding photographer was Finnish. Wedding photos much better than these will be up on her website soon. There's already one sneak peek photo on her blog here.

- The bride's dress and the bridesmaid's dresses all had pockets.

- The groomsmen hung out and got ready in a room with a ping pong table, foosball table and TV. The bridesmaids got ready in a library/office room. I think this arrangement was unfair.

- The unity candle was imported from Germany.

- The hymn sung during the wedding was "Now Thank We All Our God" because this German version of this same hymn "Nun Danket" was sung at baby Claudia's baptism.

- The purple pansy centerpieces were grown just for the wedding and then potted by the mother of the bride.

- Cornhole boards for UK and UNC were hand crafted and painted by the father of the groom.

- The reception was at the historic Glenn Willis house overlooking the Kentucky river.

- Champagne flutes were filled with Dr. Pepper, the bride and groom's favorite addiction.

- Claudia originally didn't want to throw her bouquet because she said she hated that tradition when she was single. However, the single ladies demanded a shot at it and she ended up throwing not only her toss bouquet, but also a second "consolation prize" bouquet.

- This was my toast:

A sister is a great thing to have growing up. You always have your best friend around. Someone to split the chores, share your toys- and clothes, and talk to about anything. They've seen you at your grumpiest and ugliest first thing in the morning while you're fighting for the bathroom and they still care enough to tell you if your outfit is the wrong shade of blue (go Cats!). They make you laugh, encourage and support you.

Being married is similar. Just like having a sister, having a husband means always having your best friend around- someone who loves you no matter what. Stephen will see you at your worst but tell you that you look cute anyway. You will split the chores, share the remote control, and support each other.

There's a difference though. Mom and Dad didn't ask you when they brought me home from the hospital; we just got lucky that we got to be sisters. But you and Stephen, you chose each other, and all of us are here today because we think you made the right choice. So I'd like to raise my glass and wish you both a happy, healthy, long marriage where you choose everyday to love each other more!

- The bride's ring fits inside the groom's ring with plenty of room to spare. Either Claudia has tiny fingers, or Stephen has giant fingers- I'm not sure.

- The dessert buffet featured miniature apple and pecan pies, lemon bars, and chocolate, vanilla and strawberry cupcakes. The chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting was my favorite combination.
