Party!

This weekend I spent a lot of time in the car with my favorite person, and when I wasn't in the car with him I was spending time with our great friends and family. We left Oak Ridge after breakfast Saturday and made it to Lexington in time for lunch at Sal's with Pete, Laura, and Grandma Prann. Then the boys went bowling so we could ooh and ahh over the great baby gifts Laura opened.Audrey and Rachael sure knew how to throw a party, look at this delicious spread:
The cupcakes were my favorite because they cleverly incorporated the baby shower theme- they were nests, shredded coconut with chocolate eggs in them! The cake pops were a big hit too- bite sized balls of cake dipped in chocolate and rolled in sprinkles on a stick so you can easily grab one and enjoy. We played some shower games, and then spoiled that sweet baby:

One of the things we gave her was a flamingo sundress and matching pink bucket hat to wear when she visits us in South Carolina. She's going to be a stylin' beach babe. Laura is looking and feeling great, she's one of those pregnant women who has made the whole experience seem full of joy and excitement instead of discomfort and annoyance.

Before heading out of town back to the Wheeler B & B in Oak Ridge we stopped by Claudia's for a quick supper and visit with my family.

We spent another night in Oak Ridge, visited with Matt's parents, and then left Sunday morning in the pouring rain. The rain didn't last though, and neither did the chilly temperatures. By the time we pulled into our driveway the car said it was 82 degrees and the neighborhood stunk like Bradford pear trees, the aroma of springtime. I snapped this photo from our driveway moments after we arrived:

The trees are blooming and the sky is blue! Ahh... our first February in South Carolina has felt more like May in Kentucky. It was a busy weekend, but well worth the trip!

  1. SO SO SO glad you were able to come!! It was so good to have you there - and I'm glad we got to have lunch before the shower and chat a little after. Looks like you had a good time with your family afterwards too!
