| Grammie catches a wild animal at the zoo |
Last week Matt was in Taiwan again, and we had a smooth week on this side of the planet thanks to a helpful grandparent visit and cooperative kiddos. John and Peggy spent a day with Luke, a rare treat for him to have such undivided attention, and then they picked Kate up from Kindergarten and browsed a book fair for some new favorites. It was so nice to be able to work late and not have to rush and drive all over town in the afternoon to pick everyone up. Kate was a little bummed on the day she had to go to school knowing Luke was at the zoo with his grandparents, so we had a surprise lunch date together in the school cafeteria to make her day special too.
We were all super excited to go to the airport and get Matt at the end of the week, it wasn't even that wild of a week, and yet somehow I feel like my sanity is restored once he is home again. We took it easy this past weekend to let him recover from the 12 hour time change and 30 hours of travel. There was the annual Okra Strut parade on Saturday morning and then not much else for the rest of the weekend. We took Kate's training wheels off of her bike yesterday, so that was a big deal, and now she just needs to gain some confidence and balance. I think she will get it soon if she keeps practicing.
