Two weeks ago we had the most peaceful fall break three day weekend in the North Carolina mountains with my parents. The weather was warm enough to still jump into the slightly frigid Bald Mountain lake, and the lake cabin had gorgeous views and our own private dock with lots of chances to get out on the water.
The kids were fearless when it came to leaping into the chilly water, they loved it. We all enjoyed paddle boating and kayaking too, it was so much fun.

When we weren't splashing in the lake we found other fun activities like playing miniature golf, roasting marshmallows, and picking apples to round out our quintessential fall weekend.

Even though the temperatures were not very fall like, one of my favorite things was still the fire pit. After the kids went to bed we sat by the fire looking out at the lake and it was so relaxing.
I have always considered myself more of a "beach girl" when it comes to vacation spots, but our trip to Bald Mountain Lake was so much fun that I know we will have to start doing more lake trips in the future as well.
