Fall Fun

Happy Halloween from our little ladybug and our chunky monkey!  We have been celebrating Halloween since last weekend when our church and daycare each had a Trunk or Treat.  Kate went to both and had a blast, Luke attended the one at church and seemed rather indifferent to his first Halloween experience.  It was a warm night and he only had his fleece, padded monkey suit on for about three seconds anyway.  Kate lasted longer in costume, although her wings and antennae were shed in order to make it easier to enjoy all the bounce house fun at church.

This fall brought a first for us, Matt and Kate went on an overnight trip together to North Carolina while Luke and I stayed home and had some special bonding time alone.  Matt's family was having a reunion for a celebration of life in remembrance of his great aunt Nell, and I love that they were able to represent our family and see everyone for this special event.  I'm sorry we missed it, but Luke does not have the best reputation as a traveler or sleeper (especially in new circumstances) and I think he enjoyed the rare one on one attention from me.

We also went to visit a pumpkin patch as a family, and our day at the farm was filled with so much fun that I know we'll be back next year.  There was so much for the kids to do, and one of the perks of having kiddos is that we got to do all the fun things too!

Who doesn't love to bang on pots, go down a giant tunnel slide, or explore a corn tunnel (above)?  Or perhaps you'd prefer to slide down a tunnel off a combine, dig in the sand, or ride behind your Daddy on a tandem tricycle (below)?

Farming is in their blood, and I have to admit that my kids look darn cute and comfortable on the farm- Luke in his Carhartt overalls ready to work, and Kate eagerly steering heavy machinery:

There really was so much to do there, we didn't have time for the corn maze, visiting the animals, roasting marshmallows, or even wandering through the patch for picking a pumpkin!  Oops!  I don't think our bunch minded, and Kate had already painted a pumpkin at school earlier this week anyway.

As if you're not jealous enough of our adventures yet, I should mention that Kate and I took a spin on the tractor pulled "Cow Train" too:

This is the first year that Kate understood the concept of Halloween and it made it so much more fun to hear her excitedly talking about being a ladybug, what her friends were going to wear, and shouting trick or treat.  It's been a lot of fun and makes me giddy just thinking about the coming holidays left this year and how memorable they will be with our sweet little family.
