Summertime with the Summers'

Our silly girl having so much fun with her Aunt Claudia and Uncle Stephen
We had a perfect summer weekend with two of Kate's (and our) favorite people- hamburgers, sunshine, a cornhole tournament, hot dogs, lake splashing, dog chasing, giggling, New Girl marathon, shopping, and many more great memories when the Summers family came to visit us.

One of the most entertaining aspects of the whole visit was Kate interacting with Charlotte.  She loved the doggie, was fascinated with watching everything Charlotte did and determined to get close enough to pet her.  Charlotte was a bit more skeptical of the small human at first, but by the end of the weekend even she had warmed up and affectionately licked Kate's toes.  They're about the same size, see the world from the same vantage point, and have very similar toys- it's no wonder they became friends.

A stuffed animal that moves!?  This is great!

I spy... a new playmate!

Face to face at last!
Since it was a mini vacation weekend (Matt and I had also taken Friday off) for us all, we decided to spend some beach time at Lake Murray on Friday.  We've never been to the beachfront park, but it was lovely and we'll definitely be going back.  The water temperature was just right and the calming breeze off the lake kept us from feeling any humidity.  Kate wasn't sure about her first dip in the lake initially, but she came around and had a good time in the water.  All the fun wore her out and she ended up taking a snooze in the shade with Mama while everyone else enjoyed swimming and exploring the shoreline.

Loving the long weekend

Storytime
Kate only has one aunt and one uncle, but she hit the jackpot for sure with these two.  They played and spoiled and loved her all weekend long.  The shrieks of joy and laughter that came from Kate were adorable, she was so excited to have them here, and I was too!
