Turkey Triumph

Saturday's feast was a success!  Hank (my turkey) was tender and juicy and the top of him that wasn't submerged in the gravy was crispy and brown.  Exhibit A, below, shows the beauty of a bird moments after pulling him from the crock pot before he was sliced and pulled apart into bite size portions... he even attracted a crowd of hungry onlookers.
Exhibit A
My island buffet bounty also included a classic crunchy green bean casserole, sweet and spicy sweet potatoes seasoned with brown sugar and chili powder, gravy full of pan drippings, canned cranberry sauce, and warm dinner rolls.  If you read my previous post you already know all about dessert.
We piled our plates high and enjoyed an early Thanksgiving feast together.  I am thankful for many, many things- but Saturday I was especially thankful for my parents being in town.
Tomorrow begins Round 2 as we join millions of other travelers on the road to spend time celebrating this holiday with some more people we're thankful for- Matt's family.  Happy Thanksgiving!
