Fire Chief Kate ready to drive the truck during fire safety week

My sweet Katherine is thriving this fall at Gateway in the Pre-Kindergarten class.  We are blown away with everything she is learning and the activities they are doing with them.  In the past week she has been on two field trips, one to a pumpkin patch and then another to a retirement home to trick or treat.  Kate was excited to ride the mini school bus for the first time.

One of the most fascinating parts of parenting is watching this squishy, helpless newborn turn into a person who suddenly has unique thoughts all on their own.  Kate's imagination is incredible, I love watching her play and listening to her creative stories.  I saw this posted in her classroom and think her answer was the best one by far:

In case you can't read it, her response to "When Should We Call 911?" was the epic answer of "If you live next to a volcano and it blasts off and there's lava on your house."  Hilarious.  And probably a good idea to call for some help if that was the situation.

Kate has homework, which she enjoys, and is getting really good at writing her name.  She also knows her address and is starting to recognize basic sight words when we read books.  I am so proud of her eagerness to learn new things and how she works through her initial frustrations with new letters or numbers until she gets it right.

Seeing how happy Kate is running off into her classroom each day washes away the working Mom guilt because I know she is getting amazing experiences there.  I can't wait to see what she does next!
