WKY Weekend Wedding

Matt's cousin Hope got married this past weekend and we were excited that we could attend since we aren't always able to make it to these out of state events.  It was a lot of driving, but our super travelers did great in the car and it is always wonderful to see extended family and spend some time on the farm.  Gran may be gone, but when we are on that land it is easy to remember her.  The kids even explored more of the farm than usual this trip, both on foot and by taking a ride in Uncle Forrest's new Gator.

It has been a gorgeous fall so far this year, but the day before Hope's wedding the temperatures decided to take a huge dip and resulted in a much colder outdoor wedding ceremony than expected.  The venue was so lovely though that the view of the pretty fall colors overlooking the lake while Hope and Dakota exchanged vows was worth the chilly toes.

We started the trip home on Saturday night after the reception and it will go down in history as our most successful car to bed transfer to date.  We pulled in to Matt's parents' house (conveniently located about halfway in Tennessee) around midnight and moved both slumbering kiddos from the van, up two flights of stairs, and into their "beds" (floor for Kate, pack n' play for Luke) with barely a peep from either of them. I'm still kind of shocked it went so well especially after a few less than awesome nights so far on the trip.  Sunday we drove the rest of the way, and even saw some snowflakes falling in the mountains!  We were back in time for Trunk or Treat at our church, which was our goal. Queen Elsa of Arendelle and her new sidekick, a roaring dragon, had a blast there.

As usual, it was a wild weekend of being on the go and it's not always easy to pull off, but I'm glad we could be there for such a special occasion.  Congrats to the happy couple!
