Hilton Head Island Vacation

Get ready to scroll through a bunch of pictures of our week long vacation last week on Hilton Head Island.  If that sounds boring to you, then you have come to the wrong blog.  I know that I will want all these fun memories posted out on the blog for me to come back and look at time and time again.  Let the photo feast begin!

Who: Six beach loving Wheelers.  At this stage with two small children we've quickly learned that having extra hands along on a vacation makes all the difference.  It was wonderful knowing that when our bird watching enthusiast Luke was banging on the sliding glass door demanding to go hunt for pelicans, John or Peggy was happy to take him down the boardwalk... again.

Probably pointing at a pelican that just dove in the water

Seriously, he spent a lot of time making sure we all saw the birds
Where: Hilton Head, SC.  We rented a cozy, beachy home that was ocean front and had a pool on the South Forest Beach part of the island.  The view was great, the beach access was perfect, the pool was a disappointment when it became unusable after a storm, and the layout of the house (us downstairs, Matt's parents upstairs) was ideal for our family.

Tuesday- the day the backyard flooded and pool turned brown (it was clean again a few days and eight pounds of chlorine later)
Before the rain... when a stray leaf was our biggest pool problem
How we spent our week: Splashing in tidal pools, digging holes, making drip towers, taking walks, flying a kite, riding bikes all over including an 18 mile loop around the island we were all quite proud we managed, playing Phase 10, a ping pong tournament, watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, climbing trees, bird watching, an interactive children's museum, celebrating Matt's birthday, and enjoying time together

How we ended each day: happy, exhausted, and sandy

  1. What a fun recap of the week. I love all the pictures. I'll be looking back a lot myself. The family picture turned out great.
John and I are still exhausted. Haha! A good exhausted though.
Hope your week back at work goes well.
