Not only are my front porch ferns still alive... they are home to a freshly hatched baby bird!
It's hard to get a good picture, the mom stays perched on top of the nest most of the time, but if you look closely that fuzziness is a baby bird. Like most species, the babe didn't look so hot when it was brand new, but it's been about a week since we took that photo and now he's much cuter:
This little chick squawks loudly when hungry, and if we don't make any sudden movements when can watch his feeding from our window. The only downside to our new pet is that watering my plants has now become difficult, I don't want to drown him!
