Yesterday we spent the day with our good friends Adam and Sarah in Charlotte. Living closer to them is such a treat because they are so much fun to hang out with, and it will be especially convenient come this fall when their sweet baby arrives and I'll be able to rush up to meet and cuddle the wee one.

Sarah's looking and feeling great now that her icky first trimester is behind her and we went out for lunch at the National Whitewater Center. We sat on the patio which had a great view of the rafters wiping out in the rapids. The center is where the Olympic kayak and rafting teams train, but it's also like a giant playground for the public when they adjust the jets in the river for rapids us non-Olympians can handle.

We ate and wandered around a bit, Matt and I will definitely go up again sometime to try out the fun activities. After lunch we went back to their apartment which is in a great location downtown Charlotte. I envy some aspects of their urban lifestyle, I think it's cool how close they are to so many things on foot- the library, grocery, restaurants, etc. all within walking distance in a clean, beautiful downtown setting. One of the places just steps from their home? Baskin-Robbins!

After we gorged ourselves on delicious ice cream treats, we wandered around downtown and stumbled across Taste of Charlotte, a festival with lots of food, music, inflatable fun, and great people watching opportunities.

One of the highlights we spotted was Rufus, the Charlotte Bobcats mascot dancing to Brown Eyed Girl. His moves were so smooth and infectious, that this stylin', inebriated skinny Santa couldn't resist the urge to boogie alongside him.

It was hilarious! He drew quite a crowd, we weren't the only one snapping photos of their jam session.

We spent the evening laughing and talking, and watching some Lonely Island music videos... which lead to more laughing.

It was dark by the time we left, but the ride home was barely 90 minutes and we're already talking about when we can go do it again.
So jealous of your 90 minute commute to see each other! Sarah looks great - good and preggo :)
