We have spent the past several days fighting fevers, runny noses, weird rashes, aches, and coughs at our house. You know something just isn't right when your husband wears a sweatshirt in August in South Carolina or when your toddler who usually fights one nap takes multiple naps throughout the day on her own. On Monday we learned that the streptococcus virus (strep throat) was to blame for all the misery and by Tuesday all four of us were on antibiotics to treat it. The good news is, now that the problem has been identified, we are well on our way to recovery. So this past weekend was no fun, but the weekend before that was another great one full of summery things like swimming in our neighbor's pool, hosting a cookout with friends, riding bikes, and a trip to the splash pad:
These kids sure do love the water and the park had a great variety of ways to get wet at different levels of intensity.
I feel like we have checked off all the things on our "summer to do" list and more. Beach week! Mountain weekend! Water gun fights! Pool days on the patio! Cookouts! Fourth of July road trip! Splash pad! Lake day! It's been a really fun summer and I have loved this stage of childhood where the kids have so much energy and enthusiasm about everything. However... now that Facebook has been overtaken with back to school pictures and office chatter has turned to the topics of hunting and college football, it's becoming clear that fall, my favorite, is just around the corner and I can't wait!
