EdVenture

Downtown Columbia there is a boy named Eddie who is 40 feet tall and you can climb all over inside of him to learn how the human body works.  Kate thought his insides were "dark and scary" and wasn't a big fan of all the different tunnels and narrow passages connecting his organs together that you could crawl through.  While Eddie might be the most famous attraction at the Columbia Children's Museum, called EdVenture, there were lots of other less "scary" exhibits for us to explore with Matt's parents this past weekend when we went to the museum.

Kate's favorite exhibit was definitely the kid sized grocery store replica.  Playing "check out" is one of her favorite games at home anyway, so having a real scanner and barcoded items to ring up was a dream come true.  John was an excellent grocery clerk and bagger, maybe he stumbled upon a new hobby for retirement?

One of our other favorite activities at the museum was a floor video game projection that involved lots of stomping, running, and squealing with glee as we squashed frogs frogs, popped bubbles, and kicked balls for points.

As always, it was fun watching our kids interact with their grandparents and also seeing new things through their excited little perspectives.  The rest of our weekend was pretty lazy.  We snuck in a night out Saturday with friends while our free babysitting service was in town, and then on Sunday Matt snuck in a ride on his new bike while the kids napped and later I snuck in a snooze on the couch while the kids played sweetly together in their play corner.

Sinking ship!  What do you expect when your captain is a toddler?

Columbia really does have a lot to offer families with kids, if you read the blog regularly (thanks!) you've seen some of our favorite attractions like the zoo, the river walk, the splash pad, and now the children's museum.  As if seeing our faces wasn't enough reason to come visit the Palmetto State, there are plenty of fun sights to see as well and we'd be happy to show you around our city.

There is one thing though that beats any tourist attraction... and that's a grandmother's lap!  My kids are lucky to have this one, and we enjoyed their visit.  Hope all my readers had a good weekend too!
