Summertime Fun Time

Summer is here and it's hot and lazy and wonderful.  This time of year means fireflies, colorful sunsets long after the kids have gone to bed, ice cream, and several holidays in a row to stop and appreciate things like soldiers, and Dads, and our freedom.

Where we spend our weekends
Let's talk about Matt for a minute.  He is the most wonderful Daddy to Kate and Luke.  He keeps their Mama happy, he keeps them laughing, and he keeps this family running.  Raising a family together has made me love, respect, and appreciate him more than I ever thought possible.

Climbing on Daddy is a daily favorite activity
Matt spent Father's Day in a water war against us, and he definitely won.  It started as an innocent water gun fight, and ended with me, Kate, and Luke drenched when Matt did things like dump a bucket of water on me chase us with the garden hose.

Early on in the afternoon... everyone is still dressed and mostly dry

Luke is soaked, mainly because he doesn't understand how to fill or operate his weapon.  He was wet before he ever entered battle.
Kate hides behind me to stage a sneak attack

The aftermath: The losers are exhausted, wet, and weary.  Resting and recuperating from their valiant efforts.  Popsicles were shared later as a peace offering.
When we're not chasing each other around the backyard we've been doing summery things like swimming in the lake, visiting the zoo, going crazy on the playground, and working in the backyard.

Digging for dinosaurs at the zoo
Loving the new underwater seal and sea lion exhibit
Fearless climber
Sweaty curls and smiling face

Helping Daddy with a backyard project
Hard at work
It's hot, but it's fun and any weekend spent outside with the family is a good one in my book!
