Half a year today! I can't believe sweet Baby Kate is already six months old! I remember during the dark, tired days of January and February everything I read said things like, "by six months most babies are sleeping eight hours through the night" and in my mind six months became this magical point when life would be easy again. Well, I'm not sure being a parent is ever easy, but it is really wonderful right now. Kate does sleep through the night, her personality is cheerful and curious, and we've got a very comfortable and predictable routine going at the Wheeler house.
Favorite activities at six months: Chewing on everything, scooting and crawling, babbling, sticking out her tongue and making razzing noises while spraying spit everywhere, and kicking and splashing excitedly in the bathtub
Challenges at six months: Getting a diaper on those cute buns has become a wrestling match. She is squirmy and active and refuses to lay still on the changing pad.
Height/weight statistics: coming soon, her six month checkup is next week... those thighs have definitely gotten nice and chunky here lately
Outtakes- A Look Back
I've been meaning to share some of my favorite funny photos that don't get selected as the official monthly photo. The first five months it was hard to get just one picture of our girl looking forward and staying propped up (and a smile was unlikely). Now she can sit up on her own and grins big at anyone with a camera. Our new challenge will be to keep her interested long enough, she's too curious about everything going on around her to participate in a photo shoot. Here's a look back on the images that never made the cut and are a fun reminder of how far we've come this year...
February- deep in thought, our one month old was skinny, slouchy, and super snuggly so small
March- still fascinated by gazing out the window, and no hope at staying propped upright
April- starting to develop more of a personality
May- our baby learns to smile, and does it often and happily in response to us. Sitting up, even with assistance, still results in the occasional face plant
June- a squirmy and more chunky baby loves exploring and rarely stays still
And that brings us to July... the first month where Katherine is proudly sitting up straight and on her own without the threat of toppling forward at any moment. She is playful, happy, and a delight to be around at this stage.
Happy Half Birthday little one! We love you more everyday!

she gets cuter every day!!!
