New River State Park

Happy Campers
We have had three super fun weekends in a row filled with some of our favorite faces!  After a weekend with Hannah, the following weekend we got to see her again and then we were able to spend a day at Isle of Palms with the Crawford family on their fall break!  This past weekend was our camping trip with the Bitters family at New River State Park.  October is only halfway done and we've already packed it with so much fun!

Pool time with Ellie and Caroline- building some kind of towel city fort

We spent this past Saturday morning exploring Boone, North Carolina and then headed to the campsite for a chilly dip in the river and toasty warm s'mores with Adam, Sarah, and Laing.

Brrrr...

The river was calm, clear, and shallow enough for everyone to wade across to a rope swing.

Can you spot the UK flag that Adam hung to mark our campsite? Go Big Blue!

The morning after- we survived! Bring on the coffee by the campfire!
It was so much fun.  I love that there are no distractions, no TV, no cell phone service, just quality family and friend time enjoying nature.  We stayed up late next to the campfire laughing and reminiscing about our college days while the kiddos were cozy and snoozing in the tents nearby.  Even though we all live in different states and are busy with our families and life- I'm so thankful for these friendships and that our kids are also making new memories together.  We will definitely be doing both again- beach trips with the Crawford's and camping with the Bitters'- and maybe one day all our schedules and logistics will align where we can do one big reunion together!

  1. Family and friends memory making is the best. The kiddos are all growing up so quickly, enjoy every minute.
