Kate is 5.5

Remember when I used to blog each month about what was new with the kids? The blog sure isn't as lovingly maintained these days as it was back then!  Well, today is Katherine Elizabeth's half birthday, and I feel like it is the perfect milestone to take a few minutes out of my busy day to make some notes of what this joyful, compassionate, ball of personality is up to at this age.

Kate is Kindergarten bound this fall, and she is already the brightest, smartest little lady I know, so she will do terrific in school.  She loves to learn.  She loves to ask questions.  She is a type-A, rule following child who aims to please and is excited about school (so basically, she is her Mama).

She is my super helper and I can always count on her to lend a hand with chores, baking, dressing Luke, putting groceries on the conveyor belt, or getting the mail.  Her imagination is in full force, she is often playing pretend- her favorites are making her own restaurant, shop, or being a teacher.

Favorite foods: Carbs and Dairy

Favorite TV shows: Dinosaur Train, Sid the Science Kid, and Clifford

Favorite Songs: Get Back Up Again (from Trolls), Part of Your World (from The Little Mermaid) and Volcano (Jimmy Buffett)

Kate is creative and also thoughtful.  She likes to make cards and signs for people she cares about- so mainly Luke or her buddies at school get pages filled with hearts and happy stick people.  I'm so proud of her empathy and the way she cares about others.

Sometimes I see glimpses of what teenage Kate might throw at us, when she gets moody or snippy, she's even given me a few eye rolls that are much more in line with a 15 year old than a 5 year old.  Right now it's almost comical because it is infrequent and out of character, but I know there's a feisty young lady in that little girl. 

What an amazing adventure life with this sweetheart has been!  We love you so much Kate!
