In lieu of a birthday party this year, we let Kate have a family fun day where she got to pick all the things we did. We celebrated on Saturday, but her actual birthday on Friday still had some special surprises too. Kate woke up to presents at breakfast and took treats to school for her friends. They were celebrating the Chinese New Year and Kate was allowed to be the drum line leader for the dragon parade.

Oma and Opa arrived Friday afternoon to help us celebrate and we ate pizza for dinner (birthday girl's choice of course) and finished off by singing to our five year old.
On Saturday we went to the jump park to spend the morning bouncing on trampolines, attempting ninja warrior like obstacle courses, and soaring into pits full of foam blocks. Everyone got in on the fun.
That afternoon Kate wanted to go swimming so we went to our nearby indoor pool at the rec center to splash and play. I think we should let Kate be our event planner more often, it was such a fun day! By Sunday, it was back to reality as our special birthday visitors left and Luke was fighting a fever and cold. I'm so thankful everyone was healthy on Saturday and that Oma and Opa were here too to make celebrating Kate a big deal. I can't wait to do it again!
