Happy new year! We rang in the new year at my parent's house in Northern Kentucky, and no, we did not make it until midnight because we have two kids who wake up by 6:00 each day and sleep is very high on my priority list. We had a blast on our post-Christmas tour to the grandparents, I think it might have been our best trip yet as far as traffic, weather, health, and decent sleep away from home went for our gang!
The pillow pictured above that Peggy made me for Christmas sums up our travel last week perfectly- home is where the heart is, so we went to the places where our families live.
First up we spent a few days in Oak Ridge where there were plenty of fun gifts and opportunities for everyone to be a kid again.
The weather was nice so we enjoyed having a park all to ourselves. Kate and Luke both climbed up the slides over and over and loved see-sawing with every member of the family.
On Thursday night we drove up to Northern Kentucky and were surprised when it started snowing! We woke up Friday morning to Luke's FIRST snow, and had to go out and throw a few snowballs to mark the historic occasion.

Luckily, it was just a dusting and did not stop Claudia, Stephen, and Hannah from coming up for our family slumber party. There were more gifts, tasty food, games, and cuddle time for the cousins.

It is always hard to leave, but good to be back home at the same time. Now we're busy looking ahead to the new year and all the adventures 2017 will bring. I know for me a hope is that this year is filled with more family time like we had last week. I wish you all the best for the new year too!
