I've said it before and will probably say it over and over, but Kate is one lucky little girl when it comes to the grandparent department. Not only do all of her grandparents adore her, but they are all the type of grandparents who will happily sit on the floor and read, sing, or play with her for hours. I love how hands on they are with her and this past weekend with my parents in town was just another round of sweet memories for them, us, and her.
My Dad actually had a business trip in a town nearby which prompted this visit, and since my Mom retired earlier this year she was able to come along and they made a long weekend out of it. It was a typical hot and humid South Carolina summer weekend, but since Kate wakes up before the sun we were able to enjoy several early morning outdoor adventures before the day got too hot and then lazily spent the afternoon on the shady patio with our feet in the refreshing baby pool.
| Encountering baby ducks on an early morning stroll! Kate was ecstatic and had to be held back to keep from charging. |
| Race car driving with Opa |
| Story time |
| Exploring the river from the rocks |
| Our adventurer would have gone wading if we'd let her... definitely someday but not quite yet! |
| It's important to stay hydrated when out on a warm day |
| Trying to get a family picture... easier said then done |
| Relaxing in the pool after another fun day |
I only wish we had the chance to have weekends like this more often! As Kate gets older and more interactive I love when she has opportunities to play and bond with family who mean so much to us. She might not remember a hot July weekend full of ducklings, pool splashing, shopping, books, and repeatedly tucking in her baby doll with her Oma and Opa... but the blog will remember, and she can read all about it someday!
