Wedding Weekend

Last weekend Kate attended her first wedding, and it was wonderful.  Matt's cousin Nick got married and since living far away means we've missed too many family functions (and are missing another one this coming weekend when my cousin Carina ties the knot in Germany- congratulations!), we took to the road for a quick but lovely trip to Kentucky to celebrate the occasion.

Kate did surprisingly well spending so much of the weekend in the car, and she took full advantage of the times when we weren't traveling to run around and get all of her energy out.

Playing in Aunt Carol's huge, gorgeous shady backyard before the wedding

Backyard exploring and relaxing with Grammie
The wedding was in one of the prettiest locations you can imagine, a farm in Western Kentucky.  Luckily the thunderstorms rolled on by and the charming outdoor wedding was able to take place followed by a casual reception in a barn.  There were so many personal touches and decorations that I loved about this wedding, Mandy did a great job and once again it really makes me wish Pinterest had been around in 2005 when I got married.

We had a blast seeing many of Matt's cousins and their kids and decided that it was more than worth the road trip to be present at such a fun and special event.

Annie and Kate were both sucking their thumbs, but it looks like Annie knows well enough to remove it for pictures

Keeping with tradition of preferring male family members, Kate bonded immediately with Chris and adopted him as her substitute Dad for the night

Oh!  Is there cake at this party?!

Grace and Harper made Kate's night by blowing bubbles at her, she loved chasing them
Kate and Ty relaxing before taking off to run all over the farm again

After two busy, but fun, weekends of traveling I'm exhausted but excited too because it's only the beginning of a summer full of trips, family, and more memories to come.
