Weekend Recap

Last month one of my best friends had a baby girl and I've been itching to meet little Caroline.  That, along with the fact that it would be Christmas before I saw my sister again made me suggest an impromptu trip to see family and friends.  Unfortunately the short notice meant several faces were missing from the reunions (my Dad and Pete were both out of town) but we had a great, though short, visit.

Our first stop was to see Matt's parents and we took Baby Kate to eat pizza at an Oak Ridge landmark- Big Ed's.  She was fascinated by the restaurant and happily gnawed on tasty pizza crust.

Next up, holding that beautiful baby girl!  Caroline was sleeping peacefully when we arrived, slept through a short walk up the street to pick up her big sister Ellie from daycare, slept through Kate and Ellie playing in the backyard, and then finally woke up long enough for her Aunt Jen to hold her.  Laura is doing an amazing job in her new role of Mommy to Two, and it was wonderful to have a chance to catch up with her.

Sweet baby Caroline, can't wait to watch this one grow up with Kate too

Fun with Ellie and Kate
We spent the night with Claudia and Stephen who were delighted to have some time with their one and only niece.  My Mom came for the day too and there was no shortage of arms eager to love our lucky little one.

The rain ruined our plans of going to a pumpkin patch but we had fun anyway.

We spent over 14 hours in the car roundtrip and it was well worth it.  I'm glad Kate had another chance to see her family and they all had a chance to see her at her current fun stage.
