There are so many undiscovered wild areas of our state and this spring with our social calendar completely clear because of Coronavirus, we are becoming brave explorers heading "into the unknown" (if you sang that last part in Elsa's voice your quarantine has been similar to mine). Last weekend we visited the Santee Wildlife Refuge, and it lived up to it's name- we saw so many different birds, bugs, and alligators! The morning started out crisp and cool, but warmed up quickly to be another gorgeous spring day. As usual, the pictures of our adventures do a better job showcasing the fun we had together.

After a morning of hiking, we drove through a scenic route aptly named "Alligator Alley." Thankfully, we were safe inside the van at this point because the swamps outside the windows were full of scary beasts, we saw five, and I'm sure we passed countless others without even realizing it since they disguise themselves so well in the murky waters.

It was another neat new place that we probably would not have spent a day discovering under normal circumstances. As always, it was great to be outside, to marvel at creation, to feel small, and to be thankful for our health and family. Who knows where our wanderlust will take us next!
