Since Kate was born, Mack family reunions in the mountains have become a family tradition, I think we've done it every year for the past five except last year, and I love it. It's a great halfway-ish point between South Carolina and Kentucky and allows us to all come together and spend some relaxing time amidst the gorgeous backdrop of the Smokies. This year we went to Hendersonville, North Carolina, and actually rented the same house we stayed in two years ago, appropriately named "Endless Sunsets." Once again, the views were spectacular and the company was delightful. We are so lucky to have family that we get along with so well.
This trip was the best yet, because it was Hannah's first time experiencing a Mack Mountain Weekend! Having this sweet little girl as part of the fun and chaos made the trip that much more special, I love that our family has grown since the first mountain weekend. Y'all.... she is the most adorable thing ever.
My perfect little niece has recently found her voice, and it is precious to hear her call for her favorite cousins "Tate! Tate!" and "Lewk!" She is a bit hesitant towards adults other than her parents, but she warmed right up to Kate and Luke and the three amigos spent the whole weekend giggling together. It was exactly what I dreamed of when Claudia told me two years ago that she was pregnant.
We had some thunderstorms each afternoon, but enough sun and breaks from the rain to get out and do some of our favorite activities, like hiking at Dupont State Park, wading at the bottom of Hooker Falls, exploring a playground, chasing bubbles, and stroller races.
The house was great, it is huge and has lots of space for us all to spread out and play. We napped, read books, played games, marveled at the views, and enjoyed watching the cousins interact.
It was such a fun weekend and I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Another wonderful blog post. So glad that you all had such a fun trip. You are so right there is nothing like family and playing with cousins.
